TRANSGENDER ACTRESS, LAVERNE COX COVERS 'TIME' MAGAZINE

TRANSGENDER ACTRESS, LAVERNE COX COVERS TIME MAGAZINE'I'm happy that I am myself. It's nice to be done with transitioning': Cox will kick off her 'Ain't I A Woman?' speaking tour of 28 universities on September 12 at Cornell in Ithaca, NY

Laverne  Cox talked about her upbringing, career, in the June 9 edition of Time Magazine:

'I learned in church that [being gay] was a sin,' Laverne.
'I just imagined that I was disappointing [my grandmother in heaven] and it just was devastating for me. So I went to the medicine cabinet and got a bottle of pills. And took them. And swallowed them. And we to sleep, hoping not to wake up. And I did wake up, with a really bad stomachache. I don't remember what the pills were. Whatever it was, I thought that they would kill me but they didn't.'
Calling her Time cover 'a wonderful bday present,' Cox could not be prouder to be considered a public leader of the trans movement.

She is the first transgender to grace the cover of #TimeMagazine. Another cover below:

Growing up in Alabama: The stunning beauty's mother would yell at her after she got attacked by schoolmates and refused to enroll Laverne in ballet because it was 'too gay'
