Apple to launch wearable Google Glass-style AR glasses

Bad times: The world's most valuable public company saw its stock price drop for a fifth straight day on Tuesday (Apple CEO Tim Cook speaks above at an October 2014 event)

Apple Inc. is working on a wearable device similar to Google Glass that would blend an augmented reality display with a standard pair of glasses.

The device would connect wirelessly to iPhones, show images and other information in the wearer's field of vision, and may use augmented reality.  The glasses may be Apple’s first hardware product targeted directly at AR,

The earliest time frame for the product to be reveal is 2018. According to Bloomberg, Apple has already had talks with potential suppliers for components like near-eye displays. It also has the expertise behind companies like PrimeSense, Metaio, and Flyby, all startups that were focused on AR software, 3D mapping, and computer vision before Apple acquired them over the course of the last three years. The goal is to develop a pair of glasses that could connect wirelessly to an iPhone and overlay information on the wearer’s field of vision.

We hope this will not be a massive flop like Google glass.
